Cute Colts Cheerleader

Last night we went to a friend's church fall festival. They had a trunk-or-treat and then crafts and snacks inside. Lynzi dressed up as a Colt's Cheerleader.

Here she is with her friend Sydney.

My friend Karen dressed up as Gizelle from Enchanted. Her car won the trunk decorating contest.

Living Room

Months ago Gene and I talked about painting a few rooms. We did paint both bathrooms and added some decor. Finally this week we have started the living room. Gene has scraped the wallpaper and I painted. We are not done yet, but we have a busy few days ahead and had to clean things up for now.

Ok, so I guess I don't have the "before" pictures. But you can see on the far left of this picture the striped wallpaper. That is what the whole room looked like.

The hall way from the kitchen to the living room. The Red walls took 4 coats and the yellow walls only took one coat!!

Will post more pics when it is all done!

Bragging A Bit...

On Tuesday I went to pick Lynzi up from school. As we walked out to the car she said, "Mommy, something exciting happened today!" I thought....fire drill? She said, "We went into the gym and sat in lines with our class and Mr. Personet got up to talk and he called my name!!" I said, "For what?" She said, "I got a card and a pencil." Again, I asked, "For what?" She said, "For getting all A's.! It was just Robert and I from our class!" I said, "That is great! I am so proud of you! (Remember when she got her name in the "choice box" and she was soooooooo upset about it? Well she walking to Robert during nap time. So they both got all A's! Anyway....she then said, "Something else was exciting too. Our class won the Best Behaved Class Award. We all got to pick a book off a rack in the library to KEEP! I got 'There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly'...my favorite!" I get home and open her book bag to get her folder out--our daily routine. I open it to find her bag is EMPTY! She was so upset. I was getting ready to leave for the Y when I realized this and told her I would stop at the school and get her folder.

I get to the classroom and there is her teacher talking to the other Kindergarten teacher across the hall. They saw me and I said, "Sorry to interrupt but can I get Lynzi's folder? She forgot it." Her teacher said, "Guess what I was just bragging about! Come look at what Lynzi did today! We just began learning about labeling things and they have to sound out the words when they label. So she shows me this picture of a person and Lynzi has labeled the "har" the "lege" and the "bode" of this person. She has made perfect straight lines to the appropriate place. Her teacher said, "You know, we throw new things out to the students and you just never know if they get it. Lynzi's gets it!" I told her it made me proud and she said it should!

So that was my LONG bragging moment! :)

When I Get Grown Up....

Today on the way home from church Lynzi said,

"You know what? When I get grown up I can drive myself to Grandma and Grandpa's. Yep! When I get bigger that is the first thing that I will do! I can't wait to get grown up!"

How cute!

Tonight we had our 3rd week of Awana. Lynzi memorized John 3:16 and got her membership card and her cute red Awana vest.
This is obviously not Lynzi but I took a couple pictures of her and my camera battery went dead. So I will upload later. She insisted on wearing her Colt's Cheerleading uniform tonight under it!

During the games the kids (divided up in 4 teams) had to run around this white cirlce, pick up their teams color bean bag and throw it in the middle of the circle to knock down a bowling pin. Lynzi was cute running around the white circle....everyone passing her...but she was having fun. The greatest part was when everyone passes her, she finally arrives to her green bean bag and everyone else has already tried to knock down the pin and missed. She comes up...the 4th to try...and the smallest in the room....and knocks it down....TWICE! It was so humorous!

I am so glad I am one of the leaders in her group so I can't miss a thing!

Also, SHE IS READING! She is doing so well! She has read 10 books now towards her 100 book goal for Super Readers at school. She is so excited about reading! I am so proud of her!

We are ready to start another week. Monday Lynzi has Nature Hunt Club after school until 315pm and then Girl Scouts from 5-6:30pm. Tuesday Lynzi has ballet from 330-400 and then I have Euchre club at 6pm. Wednesday Gene and I are off and planning on having a relaxing day. Then on Wed night we have our Financial Peace Class at our house. Thursday Gene is going to start taking down the wallpaper in the living room and then taking Lynzi to Marion because she is out of school Thursday and Friday for fall break.

Saturday is Angel Food D-day! YAY! Then Julie and I are going to dinner and a concert! Jeff Dunham! He is hilarious! I am so looking at laughing until my side hurts!

So that is my post. No pictures, but lots of info. Have a great week!

Just us girls.

Gene is away for the whole week. He has gone to a training in Plainfield. So it is just Lynzi and mommy.
Today was a full day. Lynzi had school, ballet and then a Halloween party.

Today was school pictures. I can't wait to get them back since they are her first school pics. She had them done in Preschool...but Elementary is different! I struggled in what package to buy. Gene is going to do some pics of her to give to her friends, so we bought a small package...mainly for me to scrap! :)

I have to brag...at Lynzi's school the 5th graders buddy up with the Kindergarteners. Lynzi is always talking about her buddy. Well today I got to meet her in the hall after school. She said, "Lynzi is very smart!" Made me feel good! She brought home books to read for a program called Super Readers. She got one out and was sitting there READING IT! I was amazed! The other of the two books was a read aloud book so I read it to her. But OMG! She is SMART! :)
Tonight Lynzi had her first Halloween party of the year. It was for Girl Scouts. There were over 200 girls there. Whew! She dressed up as Cinderella. We did some crafts...and they were hard for mommy...let alone the little girls! Sheesh.

This is her whole troop.

I do have to share a story about what happened last week. I went to pick up Lynzi last Monday and she seemed worried/upset. Well I looked at her and she said, "I got my name in the choice box today! The secretary of the school said, "Oh, is that good?" Um...no. It is like getting your name on the board. In her class she they have "choice" time where they get to chose a fun activity. If you get your name in the choice box then you miss out on some choice time. Great idea!

So anyway I asked her what she did. "I was talking during rest time." Poor thing, got in trouble for something that she inherited...the joy of talking. She was really upset. Her voice cracked and she was trying so hard to hold back the tears! I really wasn't prepared for this. For the first few weeks of school I would ask her everyday..."Did you get your name in the choice box?" She would always say, "No, mom, I never will!" I will go on to tell her..."Good because you will get in trouble at home too!" So...it happens, What do I do? After thinking about it...I told her I was proud of her for telling me and that she would not be in trouble this time...at home.

Well she kept talking about it all afternoon and all night. I predicted that going to school the next day would be rough. Sure enough...she was "sick" the next morning. I told her she was just worried about her punishment (standing on the wall for 5 min at recess). So I got out my egg timer and we sat for 5 min to see how long it was. "It isn't long at all, mommy!" But she still was "sick". I asked her if she would feel better if I wrote the teacher a note telling her that she wasn't feeling well. She agreed to that. Then I drive up to drop her off and she asked if I would walk her to class. This is the same girl who didn't want me to walk to her class the first day of school! So I did. I talked to the student teacher and she told me she took it hard the day before. Well at 9:15am I got a call from her teacher. "Lynzi just vomited in the classroom." UGH! So I went to the school to talk to her. I asked her is she wanted to stay or go home. She chose home. Then I explained that she would still have to stand on the wall the next day, and she understood. I also told her if her teacher forgot, she needed to remind her that she had to stand on the wall at recess or at choice time. So I took her to work with me. She was perfectly fine after that. The next day we picked her up and she told us the teacher erased her name and she didn't have to stand on the wall! GRRRR! I was upset that she didn't get her punishment. On Thursday, Gene subbed at her school and ran into her teacher. He asked her if Lynzi reminded her of her punishment and the teacher said, "Yes, she did. We told her we erased her name when she got sick. We figured she was already punished enough. But I bet she never does it again!"

If all kids cared that much about getting in trouble...I would go back to teaching! HA!

On a serious note. Friends of ours at church are going through a trying time right now. They have been going through an adoption process and the baby was born with complications. Please remember them in your prayers and visit this website to keep updated and leave them encouraging messages if you will. This is weighing heavy on my heart. I just can't handle a suffering baby! It tears me up! And the couple is a very nice couple who love God with all their hearts. Please join me in praying for them.

Sorry!

I am soooo sorry I have not blogged in so long. Oh how crazy life is when you start Kindergarten. I don't know how mom's with more than one child do it! Lynzi has been staying so busy with school, Girl Scouts and fundraisers ....and now tonight she started a new program at church called Awana. She is getting her little brain filled with knowledge all around! To learn more about Awana go to http://www.awana.org/ .

For now I will fill you on this past weekend starting with Thursday. Thursday Lynzi went on her first field trip and got to take her first ride on a school bus!....and mom got to go!!!! ( I HAD to take pictures!)

Here is Lynzi on her first school bus ride. Mommy got to sit with her!

Then here is my group eating the lunch before going into the Minnetrista Center in Muncie. Here the class is in front of the Museum.

Lynzi's class came especially to learn more about Johnny Appleseed...and he was there!!! They were so excited!
Here Lynzi is in the baby apple orchard. They had baby trees in a baby orchard and adult trees in an adult orchard.

Friday, Lynzi had a half day of school and then she went to a friend's birthday party. This was the first just-drop-her-off-party she has gone to! So...no pictures! :(

Saturday we all slept in and took our time getting ready for the day. We then went to Greenfield to the Riley Days. It is a big craft festival. We had lots of fun walking...and walking. Lynzi got her face painted and played a couple fun games. Then we walked and walked some more. It was a nice day for it!

After the festival we stopped in Knightstown for supper and ate Jeff's Pizza. Love it! Julie has brought me pizza from there before but we have never BEEN there. Well, lucky for us...it was BUFFET night! It was yummy!

Sunday...wow what a day today was! We went to church where I had to teach Children's Church. The kids were really well behaved and we had a lot of fun. Then we went out with friends for lunch and then they came over to watch the Colts game and a race on tv. I started Lynzi's "sitapon" that she has to make for Girl Scouts and then rushed back to church at 5pm for an Angel Food Committee Meeting. Then 6pm was Awana. We got home about 8pm after stopping at Kroger to get snacks for Girl Scouts! I had just remembered it was Lynzi's turn to take snacks! So back home, ate a quick dinner and Lynzi went to bed as I got things ready for the next day! Here are some pictures from Awana tonight.
Each child and adult ...not only in the Awana program but in the regular church services ...took a balloon outside and got to let it loose as a part of our opening ceremony! It was so beautiful! Attached the balloons were notes asking people to let us know where they found the card. We will see how far the balloons traveled! (Above: Lynzi is just right of the woman in black and I am two over from her. Below I am at the bottom far right in the red shirt and Lynzi is in front of me so you can't see her.)Here is our game time. Lynzi has the blue jean jacket on holding hands with two other kids. I am across the gym with my team. (Parents can't have their own kids in their group. It was hard to cheer for Lynzi and my team at the same time!)Here is Lynzi in her small group. My group is over in the corner by the window where you cannot see. But you can see that we are in the same room at all times...that is kinda neat!

That is all I have for now. Monday is Nature Club and Girl Scouts. Tuesday is Ballet and Angel Food order day as well as her first school fundraiser items come in. Wednesday, I think Gene and I are going to spend the day together doing something while Lynzi is at school. Thursday and Friday, I think are going to be pretty slow for now. Whew!
Here is a couple pictures from Girl Scouts 2 weeks ago. They met at the YMCA and learned a dance to earn their dancing badge. I didn't get many pictures because my camera battery went dead! :(
